Here's the cardigan that I made for my daughter Tina. She of course hates being my model so she likes to make faces when I take pictures. I started this cardigan on Aug. 25th and finished it on Aug. 26th. I was surprised that I was able to complete it so quickly. Guess it helps that she's my skinny-minny. But she's very happy to have it.

The Latest is a Lacy Tunic from Coats and Clark. Done in Florens yarn. I will definitely be doing this one again in Black perhaps. I will be teaching this pattern in October.

This mile a minute scarf is of my own design. I'm planning on hosting a Crochet along at Juniper Place Yarns on Sept. 10 and Sept 17th. I'm looking forward to seeing how this pattern is received.

This is the 3rd Chevron Cardigan that I did just before teaching a class on this pattern.

Finding a new local yarn shop.

I discovered a local Yarn shop here in Quakertown Pa, found Nina and her shop the week before World Wide Knit in Public Day, and had asked her if she knew of any local events. She did not but went about to set an event up at her store. We had a great time. Here's a pic of the event. We made two of the local papers. In the Upper Bucks Free Press the Photo caption states as follows: "A number of ladies shamelessly commandeered a section of East Broad St, Quakertown, on June 12th to participate in the World Wide Knit in Public Day for several hours. It is estimated that perhaps more than 800 such "Knit-ins" took place around the world. No arrests or citations had yet taken place at the time this photo was taken, though sources indicate that "Nina" of Juniper Place Yarns may have instigated the gathering locally."

Trip to Cape May NJ

Aug. 1sth I was invited with a couple of girl friends to send the weekend at Cape May. We had a wonderful time there. Although I didnt get much crocheting done. We visited the Light House in Cape May and the one in Wildwood. Definately got too much sun. Saw the remains of the S.S. Atlantus which was an experimental concrete ship.

Was a way too short trip. Sunday ended up being a horrible day with severe storms, here are some of the pictures from my back yard.

Here is the completed Pamper Yourself Bath Set by Michele Maks. I received this kit from Annie's Hook & Needle Kit Club. This consists of a washcloth, Headband and Soap Bag. I get a project a month that I can either crochet or knit. This was started on June 15th and completed June 18th.

Well I finished another project this morning, that's been in my to do pile since last summer. It's a purple shopping bag for my dear daughter. Purple is her favorite color, she didn't know it was for her and was telling me she was going to swipe it once it's done. "smirk" She in for a nice surprise when she gets home this afternoon. I had found this kit at The Spinnery in Frenchtown, NJ. A very nice store. I will be visiting it again the next time I'm in the area.

I’ve been working on a Woven Rainbow Afghan going on 4 years now. I am happy to say that I put the finishing touches to it early this morning at 1am but at least it’s done. It became the “Damn Blanket” because the pattern was way too simple for me and if I didn’t have distractions to keep me busy on it I would lose interest in it after a row or so. It turned out rather nice, but I will not be making another one anytime soon.

I had a lovely time at Barbara’s who opens her home for the Cozy Corner Crocheters to meet monthly.

Today is our last official gathering until September. It was good to see everyone again, as I’ve been plagued with car problems the last few months. I did bring the “Damn Blanket” to show them the end result as they been there through the years watching me work on it, and I must say I always made a lot of progress the times that I brought it to the meetings. The food was good We had salad, a veggie tray, macaroni salad that had shrimp in it, fried chicken, bbq ribs, and hamburgers. We had diet root beer, diet coke, and reg coke to drink. And for desert we had watermellon, and a lemon type cookies. The weather was perfect for our gathering and spent the whole afternoon outside in the backyard. Thanks Barbara for opening you home once again. And I hope I can make it out there again before we start again in September.

Worldwide Knit in Public Day

Today was Worldwide Knit in Public Day. So I spent the day with the Northwest NJ Knitters. We met up at Panera in Phillipsburg, NJ and headed to Nazareth, to visit Kramer Yarns. I haven’t been there since they started to remodel the place. There were several tables for knitters to sit, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I like the changes they’ve made. I did pick up some Fountain Hill Brushed Mohair - Dashing Light and Leisure Arts "I Can't Believe I'm Lace Knitting"

Next we had lunch at the Apollo Grill in Bethlehem, Pa. Was the first time there for me all I can say is Wow! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was a quiet, and classy. Four of the gals shared a bottle of wine and seemed to enjoy it very much.

Our last stop was Knitter’s Edge, which looked like a bank. Was a wonderful place to visit so comfy, and very airy. They had a very nice sit and knit area in front of very large bay window. Plus looked like they had two other rooms to hold classes and such. I will most definitely return to this store and possibly take some of their classes that they offer. I did pick up a book that’s been on my wish list for about 3 years. “A gathering of Lace" by Meg Swansen.

It was great spending time with the gals as it’s been almost a year since I last saw them. Will definitely be getting back with their regular meetings at Panera.

And I haven’t accomplished much this month. I’m knitting my first set of socks, and I’m almost to the heel turn. I’m doing a generic toe up pattern to teach myself. I’m also working on crocheted hot pads for Neil for Christmas. The ones I made him 4 years ago are on their last legs. I’m still working on the woven afghan (crochet) and have a knitted scarf in ribbon yarn half done. The one thing that I did complete is Catherine’s RR and mailed out this morning on it’s way back home. I did receive my Wisdom & Harmony RR back, I just need to finish the detail work on it.

Another Finish and other things

I decided to try my luck on the Fetching pattern especially since I never done any type of cabling before. I started these on November 10th and was completed by November 15th. I didn’t get a picture of them until today when I had the recipient model them for me. I’m happy to say that I loved doing this pattern and plan to make more in the near future. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year. I know we did. Neil really out did himself this year. He did two turkeys one that was 22lbs and the other that was 18lbs., stuffing (3 kinds), mashed potatoes, candied yams, sweet corn, carrots, rolls and turkey gravy. There were 6 at our table this year, which is kind of small for us lol. But a good time was had by all that was here. Right now I’m smelling the makings of Neil’s famous Turkey soup. Hopefully it will be ready before I go to Staten Island on Monday. If not I hope he saves me some for my return on Wed. I’m helping a friend do inventory on their Train collection then on Tuesday or Wednesday I’m going to the big Smiley’s Manhattan Yarn sale that is Starting Tuesday November 27th.

Well, it’s Sunday evening and I haven’t touched anything craft related the whole weekend. A dear friend grabbed up my youngest daughter for the weekend so it was just Neil and I. Friday night we went out with friends to the local Chinese Buffet and had a good time. We went to bed early. Saturday morning Neil made me a wonderful breakfast of Grands biscuits, Ham and onion omelet. After which we turned off the phones and had an enjoyable day just the two of us. (I wont go into details *giggles*) Today, we had a lazy morning, and this afternoon we went window shopping in Phillipsburg and Easton. I think that we really needed this weekend for just the two of us. Told Neil that we need to have a Date night just the two of us in the future. It’s been a really long time since either of us had some one on one time.

Sunday Afternoon Hookers - yarn crawl

Here is what I picked up at Kraemer's

This is the email that Susan, sent the group concerning our outing this past weekend, she did such a good job of explaining our trip. I just had to post it: My comments are in blue

When last we left our intrepid explorers they were about to embark on "Philly" Yarn Crawl. Making plans for the big day we find that the ladies were abandoned to their own devices by their comrades.

"We don't have to go on Sunday do we?" queried Beth.

"Nope not if Barbara's not going" replied Susan. If we change the day to Saturday I wonder if any of the other will come".

Beth posted the date change and after receiving no replies the ladies continued to make plans for their exploration.

"We don't have to go all the way to Philadelphia do we?" Asked Susan ( could have been Beth but who knows at this point)

"Actually, I have about 5 stores around here (Around meaning within 40 miles ) that I would like to visit" Stated Beth.

" Then why don't we do that?" replied Susan "I don't know anything about your area so it will be neat to check it out".

On the allotted day (which by the way was not supposed to have any rain in it) Susan, armed with credit card and her ever present needlework bag ( after cleaning out the back seat for anticipated purchases) raced off to meet Beth. On the way she drove through gorgeous hills and then came the monsoon which just about stopped traffic for about 3 miles.

Arriving safely at Beth's house Susan said the obligatory hellos and good byes to the gathered assemblage and the girls were off.

First stop back the way I came for about 20 miles. Ho boy! To Aunt somebodies in Clinton NJ ( really I cannot remember the aunt in questions name. ) Aunt whomever it was had a lovely selection of yarns and threads at reasonable rates. Not any particular great discount but it was very nice to touch all the lovely yarn. Susan found a large cone of some luscious thread for 20 bucks that she did not want to buy because it was only the first stop so she took Aunt whatever card ( which I cannot find) and vowed to come back if there were no better bargains on the horizon. Beth bought a pair of circular needles. We went to Aunt Jean's Handiworks in Clinton

Next stop ( Beth correct me if I am wrong) Was south was in Easton PA the ladies finally discovered the little hole in the wall after much muttered cursing and turnings around. The sign stated in very faded writing:

Needless to say our explorers turned around again and kept exploring. Hand Crafter's Studio I wasn't even sure if they were still around, and given the state of the sign I doubt it.

The third stop in Nazareth PA was Kraemers yarn shop and here dear readers is where the ladies struck gold. Kraemers is a textile mill that sells it's own product.

The two entered the shop with much anticipation and after picking over the whole shop and touching all the yummy yarn discovered......thread!! Yes the ladies found thread at such ridiculously low prices that the two went on a spree. Now I know all you non- threaddies will not find this exciting in any way but if you love a bargain you would have loved this. Picking up several humongous cones and expertly flipping to the underside the girls could see that the prices were unbelievable. Even for Susan's cheap tastes. After only minutes of debate the ladies made their selections and went to pay. Most of the items of thread were priced between 2 and 5 dollars. Wooo Hoo both bought as much as they could carry. Susan had a bit of a debate with herself over a mohair blend that cost 20 dollars but relented and placed it on the counter also. When lo and behold after a bit of debate over the price was given the cone for 10 dollars. The two Left he store giggling like school girls. Yep definitely enjoyed this place, and looks like they will be giving tours of the textile on Wednesdays, so I'm thinking of definitely going to see that.

Then next stop was a place called Tangled Web in Bethlehem PA. Very nice higher end shop with a lot of exotic yarns that neither Lady could afford or wanted to spend on after Kraemers. But a very nice shop none the less. The exact name is Tangled Yarns a very nice shop

The last stop was-------- ( I simply cannot remember the name nor it's location) and after much twisting and turning because of one way streets our heroines were very disappointed to see it was closed for the Jewish Holiday. The last shop was Tucker Yarn Co Inc. in Allentown, and I happen to chose the one Saturday that they were closed, so I'll have to go back and check them out later.

So, it was off to find nourishment. Beth navigated to Don Pablo's where the ladies ate tex mex for a late lunch. The food was quite tasty and topped off by a lava cake thingy with ice cream. Yummy!!

Susan then drove Beth back to her house in Phillipsburg NJ as their adventure ended. After again saying the obligatory hellos and goodbyes and in between talking about what fun the day had been and how jealous all our threaddie friends will be ( not to mention using the facilities) Susan drove home to her husband who wanted to go out for dinner (oh my groaning stomach) But that is another tale.

Haylee Carol arrived this morning at 7:35, 7lbs 7 oz , 20 1/2 inches long. Haylee decided to help mom out, 10:30 last night Kim's water broke so they didn't have to induce her this morning. Haylee has a nice bruise on her head and a sore shoulder (got caught on mom's pelvic bone) but both are doing fine.

Well Last night about 1am we were awoken with the what looked like a strobe light in our bedroom, turned out being an extreme electrical storm, we lost power so I stayed up to get Neil and the rest of the family up and out of here on time. Power finally came on about 8 hours later. And my daughter in Ohio called they are going to induce her tomorrow morning at 6:30 in the morning and I havent even made it to bed yet. They are concerned about her and the baby as she has developed Preeclampsia. So I'm going to be leaving soon as I can get a few hours sleep.

Today the The Northwest NJ Knitting Meetup Group Summer Party at Jeanne's house. What an absolute blast! A group of happy gals, lots of food and drink. And Jeanne's husband grilled for us. After eating and drinking there was some floating, swimming, and foot soakers in the pool. Not much knitting went on but it was in the upper 90's. And I was the black sheep working on the baby blanket for my newest grandbaby who will be arriving into the world next month. Of course I was crocheting this item. But a good time was had by all , and I want to thank Jeanne (group mom) for opening her home for this.

Sunday Afternoon Hookers

Wow another good day. Spent the day with the Sunday Afternoon Hookers, had a wonderful time, good food, good conversation, goodies, and of course crochet. Today I spent working on the Woven Rainbow Afghan that I started as a crochet along with Gabby Crocheters. I'm hoping to have it finished by the end of the summer. It was good to meet some new faces (to me anyway) (Waves to Pauline and Linda) As always, thanks to Barbara for opening her home to a bunch of crazy crochet addicts. Is good to hear of possibly of getting together and doing an outing as a group. But on a sad note that today was the last official get together for the summer. But if anyone wants to try and get together over the summer please count me in.

Philadelphia Yarn Crawl

Wow what a wonderful Saturday I spent the day with a group of local knitters. We did a yarn crawl in Philly. This was my first time doing something like this so I was really looking forward to going. There was 7 of us ladies that went. Our first stop was at Rosie's Yarn Cellar. Which was a nice tiny shop. The staff seemed a little aloft but it could be that there was so many of us there. I did pick up 2 skeins of Alpaca Lace and a hank of Anne Schaefer. The second shop we went to was Loop, I would love to spend more time there. The place had a very nice feel to it, airy and comfortable. The staff was available to help but were not pushy, so felt very comfortable wandering around touching and looking at the different yarns. I finally decided on purchasing the pattern that one of the staff was working on it was called Shoalwater Shawl, and I chose Silk Lace in Bearded Iris. I'm so looking forward to doing this shawl (reminder to self to add to my WIM list) The staff also recommended a nice pub a couple blocks away called the Ten Stone Bar & Restaurant. The food and service was wonderful, I highly recommend the Portabello Mushroom Sandwich it really hit the spot. And last but not least the last shop we hit was The Tangled Web, another great feel place. The staff was very nice, and so was their selection. I ended up picking up 2 balls of Bingo for 50% off and 2 skeins of Sockotta... I'm planning on learning how to knit socks so now I have enough to do a few pairs of socks. Don't know how to make Saturday a better day. Fellow knitters enjoying each other's company and yarn. A perfect day. I will post a pics of my new stash hopefully tomorrow.

Wisdom & Harmony Sampler

This is a project that I'm working on as Round Robin in one of the cross stitching groups I belong to. Not much else is going on at the moment. Just trying to stay cool and dry. We've been having August weather instead of our norm May/June weather. My plans for today is to put in the other air conditioner in our bedroom, and to work on my Frederick the Literate Kit, that I needed to replace for another RR. I'm hoping to get it done in the next week or so. I'm also working on a crocheted Afghan that I had started as a crochet along. Let's see what else do I have on my hooks and needles, I have a large Cross stitch project called "Call of the Wild" that I've been working on for a couple of months, I'm trying to spend an hour a day on it. Also have two crochet doilies that I have on hooks and a butterfly shawl that I'm knitting. I'll post a more detailed list later today or tomorrow.

Well I've been a busy be, I have several things on my hooks and needles I'm hoping to get most of them done over the next couple of weeks. I completed Catherine's RR a week ago (pictured above).

Good afternoon,

I'm fairly new to blogs and don't know much about them. I so enjoy reading them, seeing what everyone is working on, what's going on in their lives and so forth. I hope people enjoy reading mine as much as I enjoy reading theirs.

First allow me to introduce........myself.
My name is Beth, I'm 42, In a long term relationship 6 years to Neil-54. I'm a mom to 3 sometimes wonderful kids, Kim-19, Mike 18, Tina-14. Grandmother to Thomas Age 3 months, who belongs to my son. Kim my oldest daughter is expecting a child Aug 21. I'm a stay at home mom, who has many interests. This blog is more about crocheting, knitting, and cross stitching. And of course showing off my grandbabies.

First off the picture above is of my son Mike with his son Thomas

I will probably make many posts today getting this set up.
